The program consists of didactic and clinical components teaching and you will have the opportunity to apply and practice these clinical skills with the guidance and mentorship of dedicated faculty.
It is mandatory for our Trainees to continue with their clinical duties whilst training with us
At the end of the first year, the trainees are encouraged to take the MRCP part 1.
In the next 12 months take MRCP Part 2 and PACES
2] What is MRCP Clinical Primer duration?
Typically two years. For postgraduates, it can be curtailed to one year or so. For those who demonstrate dedication to learn, typically by way of > 90% attendance at clinical work, teaching sessions, and tasks & assignments, there is an offer to ' train until pass'. It's mandatory for trainees to continue with their clinical work whilst in the primer programme.
3. What are the MRCP Clinical Primer- Advantages?
Among the numerous advantages, the salient ones are
1. Commitment - The Academy is determined to train the motivated students until they achieve their goals, irrespective of the additional cost involved, the fee collected from the trainees is capped.
2. The Faculty at the academy are mostly trained in the UK and know well the training format and requirements as well as the MRCP-UK exam requirements.
3. Clinical Primer is the first parallel postgraduate training program in the country. The experience of running it for so long reflects in the success of the trainees.
4. Flexibility - has start dates, three times a year and ensures repetition of the curriculum.
5. Affordability - There is no other post-graduate training program that is as cost-effective.
6. Success - A significant number of trainees are already successful and pursuing their further careers in the UK and other places.
4. What are the PreRequisites regarding clinical experience?
The Academy would not train students who are not in clinical work. So, the trainees are advised to work out the feasibility and logistics before considering joining the Program. While there are some hospitals that are affiliated with the Academy, it is not mandatory that the trainees join those hospitals. Trainees can continue to work in any hospital of their choice. The Academy does not take the responsibility of finding the trainees in any hospital either. Although some tertiary hospital setups are preferred, the Academy can continue to train the students even if they work in mediocre hospitals
5. What are the costs involved to take the course?
The training fee is variable and we advise to check with the admin regarding the same.
6. What is the time required for Preparation?
At least two years for undergraduates and just over a year for postgraduates
7] Pass rate in Osler’s and General?
Success is already attached to oslers. Osler's PACES course till date helped nearly 500 candidates, national and international to clear the most difficult component of the MRCP- PACES exam.
On the first attempt, the success rate was close to 85 reaching to near 100% on the second attempt. For the trainees of clinical primer, it is approximately 75-80 % in the first attempt. Our earlier trainees of the clinical primer programme have successfully cleared MRCP and are working in the United Kingdom.
8. Teaching patterns of Clinical Primer Course?
A minimum of 6 hours of curriculum-relevant teaching to be provided per week on average, including a regular programme of direct observation of clinical skills in the academy /at the hospitals. At the end of each teaching session, relevant topic-related assignments are given, which is mandatory for the students to submit by the deadline.
Day to day learning/progress of every trainee in the hospitals are monitored and trainees are given regular feedback and also mentoring /support is provided
We at the academy emphasize on the fact that “We retain from our studies only that which we practically apply “and we expect our trainees to follow that.
